Contracts with financial organisations
In addition to the agreement with Rijkswaterstaat, the Coentunnel Company concluded financing contracts with parties such as Fortis Bank (Nederland), Bayerische Landesbank, the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), Bank Nederlandse Gemeenten (BNG), KfW IPEX-Bank and the European Investment Bank (EIB). These contracts stipulate, among others, that Coentunnel Company bears the financial risk. In other words: Coentunnel Company, which will be paid on a performance basis, will have to pay back the banks in any event.
This implies that the consortium will do its utmost to claim the maximum available project fee from Rijkswaterstaat. The first 20% will be paid out during the realisation phase in order to pay for interest and fees. The second portion, which will be released after the tunnel becomes available, will be used to pay back the loans.
